Rangan Chakravarty is a filmmaker, television producer, writer and journalist, working out of Kolkata. His research interest is music and ideas of modernity in contemporary India. He is currently working on the cultural phenomenon of Bangla Bands, a music movement, mostly led by young men in their early twenties in Kolkata and West Bengal, using a global idea of sound with Bengali lyrics, often fusing various genres like metal and rock with local folk genres. Title of the Discussion: Bangla Music Bands: The Political is Cultural!
