MYKKI BLANCO

Mykki Blanco is a stage persona, a hip hop-drag queen-alter ego created by the American poet, musician and performance artist Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. Her performances are as much queer hip hop as performance art. It has been called a mix of Marina Abramović, Marilyn Manson and RuPaul. The EP The Initiation from 2013 has put her on the map as one of hip hop’s most important innovators. | Read more & listen

CHANCHA VIA CIRCUITO

Pedro Carnale, the Argentinian producer behind the name Chancha Via Circuito, mixes Mexican and Colombian cumbia with folk music from Argentina and Bolivia. He samples, electrifies and adds anything from owls howling to rumbling drum orchestras. The result is called digital cumbia, which is a kind of update and restoration of cumbia and other popular musical styles from South America. | Read more & listen
