Date and venue
Clandestino Festival takes place from 28 July to 31 July in Gothenburg and Bottna which is approximately a 1.5 hour drive north of Gothenburg.

In Gothenburg: The opening programme will be held on 28 July, first at Kulturtemplet and then at Skjul Fyra Sex. The closing concert will be held in the evening on 31 July at Pustervik.

In Bottna: The weekend programme will be held in the idyllic Bottna countryside on 29 – 31 July.

On top of that, Clandestino presents a monthly concert series at Kulturhuset Oceanen in Gothenburg all year around. For exact times, please have a look at the performance schedule in the menu above.

Bus
The best way to travel to Bottna from Gothenburg is with bus (Festivalbussen) from Göteborgs-Operan. Price:  245 SEK (one way 125 SEK. Tickets can be booked only here.

Parking
Guarded parking spaces (limited lots) are available next to the festival grounds in Bottna with a parking fee of 20 SEK. All proceeds will go to The No One is Illegal Network (“Ingen Människa Är Illegal”).

Accommodation
You are entitled to a camping spot in the fields of Botnik Studios when you purchase a festival pass. The rooms at the hostels with the closest proximity to the festival grounds are predominantly occupied by the artistes involved in the festival (whose numbers go beyond a hundred). In the case of accommodation in Gothenburg, we would recommend Novotel which is situated close to Skjul Fyra Sex in Majorna, this is where the second part of Thursday’s programme will be held. On Sunday, we would recommend the hotels close to Järntorget as our closing concert will be held at Pustervik.

Restrooms
These are available on the festival grounds in Bottna, but please note that there are no showering facilities. Bathing spots in the seas and lakes can be found within walking distance.

Age restrictions
In Gothenburg: As the festival will be held at venues (such as Pustervik and Oceanen) at which alcohol can be purchased, the age limit is 18 years and above. In Bottna: At Botnik Studios, there is free entry for children under the age of 16 who are accompanied by their parents/guardians.

History
Clandestino Festival has been held annually in Gothenburg since 2003. It is an alternative music festival that also includes other art forms, literature and discussions.

With international artistes from places that have been shaped by the surging waves of global migratory movements, Clandestino Festival creates a groundbreaking alternative to commercial mainstream culture.

One of the original reasons was to raise awareness of the case of Peter Ekwiri. After he had been refused asylum in Sweden, he was wrongfully deported to Ghana despite having fled from the turmoil of the border between Uganda and Sudan.

During these years, we have had the privilege of presenting artistes such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Anoushka Shankar, Orchestra Baobab, Fatoumata Diawara, Buju Banton, Hindi Zahra, Konono N° 1, José González, Susheela Raman, Little Dragon, Shangaan Electro, Khaira Arby, Wu Fei, Junip, Talvin Singh, Fun^da^mental, Nisennenmondai, Batida, Débruit & Alsahra, Tori Ensemble, Hailu Mergia, Jambinai, Yasmin Hamdan, Kasai Allstars, Alsarah & The Nubatones and Tinariwen. We have also had the honour of presenting authors and visual artists such as Nawal El Saadawi, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Trinh T Minh-ha och Linton Kwesi Johnson, Renzo Martens and Jonas Dahlberg.
