El Hijo de cumbia is a prestigious nickname created by a cumbia collector resident in New York. The young talented Gómez has taken the Colombian cumbian to a new level through his revolutionary sound. Already at age 12 Gómez made his first stage appearances, with well-known band in the tropicana genre. In search of his own sound, he left the scene for a while and focused fully on developing his music in the studio. Several years of hard work resulted in a soundscape where classical meets cumbia, reggae, dub, hip hop and drum’n'bass. After successful collaborations with cumbia legends such as Grupo Pesadilla and Mara Villa, El Hijo has made himself a name worldwide. Once again performing live with his contagious Latin American rhythms, the Argentinean makes dance floors explode on hot clubs in Mexico, Los Angeles, New York and Gothenburg. On the first album “Freestyle de Ritmos’‘ El Hijo wants to convey musical influences and emotions that inspire him. Imagine a backyard in one of Mexico City’s trendier neighborhoods packed with people. The sound is heavy and vibrant, energetic like a dusty rug over the rooftops. Party, dancing and craziness.
