Dj Gavana aka Anna Gavanas is on a dub mission of political and musical dimensions. Recently she participated in the pop conference Dance Music Sex Romance in Seattle, contributing her experiences of ethnographic studies of gender within European dj culture. Gavana’s main inspiration when producing own tracks is a growing collection of 10-inch vinyl records and a longstanding obsession with vinyl treasures. What are the stories behind these objects? Which stories do they tell and what experiences do they convey? Through globally ambulating DJ sets and productions, Gavana provokes reflections, raises questions and conveys experiences with the sound of UK steppas dub and dub step. In addition, Gavana is part of the DJ/ producer collaboration DJplaneten.
