We have just got the great news from Congo-Kinshasa: Konono N°1 has finally got their visa and are able to come to Clandestino Festival this year. At the office we will celebrate with rhum and congolese rumba. Cheers!!
More artists are now ready for the project The Göteborg String Theory that will make its first and very unique performance during the Clandestino Festival. In addition to previously announced artists (Jaqee, Midaircondo, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Pacific!, Warren Suicide, Hajen and Fox Machine) will El Perro del Mar, Jmy Haze and Silverbullit participate during the closing day of the festival Sunday afternoon 14th of July at Röda Sten.
In cooperation with Secret Garden we present a club night with Rickard Masip [Tropical Treats/Raw Fusion/Sthlm] at Styrbord Babord, Kungsportsplatsen 1. Welcome Friday 29 May 2009, 23-04 (free entrance before midnight).
Luján Marcos Gozalo, artist from Madrid, poet in miniature format – unclear what will happen around her. The only guarantee is that she wants things to appear here without the presupposition of something being here. The idea: to write thoughts across the city, no, do not write, but make use of vinyl tiles, materials which can be easily attached to a wall, a facade that peels, not graffiti, rather meta-graffiti, the material dissolving, words appear together, collapse.
Tape like cracks attached to building walls, things that make it seem like everything is falling apart. Maybe a megaphone and turntables. A disc with Lawrence of Arabia. “That’s just my imagination” confesses Lujan Marcos in an email. She says she would like the surrealism to spring out of her head. So yes, she is firmly of the idea of cracks from which the phrases appear as images of herself, and of course, a performance, an action of some kind. What does it mean to live authentic? Do I live authentic? In everything I do? Every day? Poetry? The arts? Love? Phrases on walls, on the sugar package found in the cafe, on the ground, on the sole which stamps the ground, in the river’s reflection, in the name of any street, all over, this one question. What is it to live authentic. Are we aware of reality. Who are we. What have we done to our environment – just as physical as intangible. Why do we avoid each other. Why do we shun we ourselves. What do we fear to discover.
VICTIMS & MARTYRS – POLITICAL INTERVENTIONS
Do we live in a victim society? Are marginalized groups too easily adjudicated the role of victims or martyrs? How does it affect their possibilities to
effectively change their own situation? The Conference Victims & Martyrs – Political Interventions cast light upon the concepts of victimhood and martyrdom from philosophical, theological, feminist, and juridical and artistic
perspectives.

WARM UP AT KONSTHALLEN 20 MAY, 2009
When Filastine visited Clandestino two years ago, he made an acclaimed and beloved appearance inside the deep caverns of Bergrum 211, together with MC Subzero Permafrost. This time he brings Lyon-based cellist Amélie Bouard, and he is not hidden away in a cavern but performing at Göteborgs Konsthall.
Filastine is based in Barcelona, but touring constantly takes him around the world, which the brand new album Dirty Bomb – released in February this year on Jarring Effects – testifies to.
In total he made over 60 gigs last year, in various places: clubs in the world’s metropolises, at a ragged fleet on the Mississippi, at Shambhala Festival in Canada, at a tiny break core party in Osaka, and before 40,000 people at the hiphop festival Boulevards in Casablanca. Filastine remains in the moving center of events, to tow out a music somewhere between electronic clatter, acoustic percussion and amplified cart that has become his trademark. He fires off rhythms and synchronizes videos in real time.
Nota Bene. The concert takes place at Göteborgs Konsthall May 20, 2009 at 19.00. No admission.
