The 7th edition of Clandestino Festival takes place in a unique festival area at Röda Sten in Gothenburg on 12-14 June 2009. Most of the artists perform in a tent area outside, and furthermore, we have designed a club scene on the entrance level with free access to the exhibition – Allemansrätten – in the Cathedral on the upper level. This year Clandestino Talks takes the form of a conference on victims and martyrs, taking place 10-14 June. With the exception of two lectures, organized at The Museum of World Culture, the entire program takes place at Novotel at Röda Sten. Clandestino Festival also arranges a warm up at Göteborgs Konsthall May 20 at 19-21. Any updates can be found on our website.
Early summer. Sunshine sinking into your skin after a light drizzle. You arrive at the fantastic location. This is where everyone will perform. In the center you find a classic circus tent, from the sound system the Dj lets her first choice wallow forth. The sound technician adjusts the base. In the line you meet some friends who have been to a lecture on “victim mentality”. You exchange a few words, enter the festival area. It is different this year. Not only the venue and the giant purple tent are new; there is also a unique club scene indoors, on the ground floor. You have been here before and yet, it feels different now. A different atmosphere. Never before has there been so many people here from the whole world. An art exhibition is opening upstairs, in “The Cathedral”. Never before so many known and interesting acts, artists and lecturers have gathered here at the same time. They are here. Yes. Yeah, you think, there is much happening in this town after all. We are lucky to find something that has not been repeated in the mainstream media. You raise your tent. You have decided. You will stay here all weekend. No reason to move. This is where it happens. Beneath the bridge. You send text messages to some friends. The DJ changes the track. Another beat. It is time. It begins. . .
