Uzul [Lyon] Uzul, the French dub veteran from Kaly Live Dub has fallen in love with dubstep’s deep filthy bass lines and ruff beats. BASS is the line that connects the dots. The infatuation is mutual and has caused dance floor blasting collaborations with dubstep megastars Skream and N-type. The recent release has brought Uzul to play all over Europe and beyond, and has set off an emerging dubstep scene in France. In Uzul’s view, dubstep has taken over because The People have a need for the massive sound that can only be experienced in big sound systems; the loudness, the energy and the irresistible groove. Uzul’s musical universe soothes us with reverberating deep soundscapes while keeping us on our toes peppered with monstrous bass wobbles and beats. Always organic, psychedelic and steeped in the lower frequencies. Like Uzul’s triphop Indus project as Uzul Prod (2007) where he travels to mysterious places without moving. Uzul loves movie samples, dubby sirens and enigmatic drones. He collaborates with instrumentalists and MC’s, like Ben Sherpa (SA) and Oddateee (NYC/ USA). Uzul’s performance with Kaly Live Dub took Clandestino by storm the other year and we are thrilled with anticipation for his new sounds returning as a solo dubstep act.
