Warm – Up with José González June 3rd at Världskulturmuseet Prior to Clandestino we will charge up with a few warm-up events. These warm-ups culminate with José González who will give a unique solo concert at Världskulturmuseet the 3rd of June. José González [Göteborg] One of this festival year’s most recognized artists comes from our own hometown. He needs no presentation – neither here nor really anywhere else in the world. From having been an infamous festival attendee is he now one of the largest public magnets. After his breakthrough with the debut album Veneer (2003) José González has made a name for himself the world over, both as a solo artist and later even as a member in Junip (see below). His original soundscapes have infiltrated our most sensitive senses through a series of channels in the music world such as commercials and tv-series. Recently his song “Far away” won the prize for the best song at the Video-game gala Video Game Awards in competition with among others Eminem and Rihanna. What is it then that makes Josés music feelings so special? Maybe it is a combination of his throughly saturated nearly genius musicality, the persistence and precision of a prior researcher and an enormous honesty wich fills both his texts and music with a peculiar deep seriousness. The second album In our nature was released in 2007 on Imperial Recordings in Sweden. Here José González plays with metaphors and descriptions of people’s primitive behaviors in his lyrics. Something of further interest, beyond the music, is the philosophic thoughts that are developed and in some way put into question of how we humans lure ourselves and each other in relationships. In context with the extremely melodic, beautiful, sensitive acoustic guitar playing and with a voice which places a deep impression in Indie -as well as Bossa Nova souls – José González creates an exclusive and unique solo concert. We bend and bow deeply for this local world star. The concert is included in the festival pass but it is also possible to purchase one limited tickets to this unbeatable concert here:
