ANIMAL CHUKI

Animal Chuki comes from the boiling underground scene in Peru’s capital Lima. The duo, consisting of Andrea Campos and Daniel Valle-Riestra, were united by a will to explore music and sounds from their subconscious as well as the past: ancient folk music from the Andes constitutes the foundation for their danceable arrangements, which mutate into an electric cumbia with intricate melodies, sounds of gunshot, and dirty, slow rhythms.

Animal Chuki are signed to the record label ZZK, who specialize in exporting the best latintronica from South America. Their first record was mentioned in Vice, Afropop Worldwide, and on MTV—to name a few. The debut Frutero is partly a tribute to the Afro-Peruvian musician and poet Nicomedes Santa Cruz.
