CLANDESTINO FESTIVAL | GÖTEBORG | 4-6 JUNI 2015

This unruly group was founded by the Portuguese-Venezuelan singing drummer Alex Figueira. At a concert in his adopted hometown of Amsterdam, he met the other two members Stuart Carter (guitar, moog, organ) and James Porch (bass). The newly formed ensemble began experimenting with a strange mix of Black Sabbath rock, yelling vocals, voodoo, musique concrète, lazer noises, rattling bongos, fuzz guitars and a hefty dose of Brazilian sixties psychedelia. Critics have lyrically called them an updated version of tropicalia legends Os Mutantes, refering to the band’s particular mix of batacuda, funk and noise, but also because of the manic rowdiness that characterizes both groups. The debut album was released in 2014 on quality label Soundway. The band name is pronounced Foomassa Pretta and means black smoke.
