In Filming Syria the artist and curator Juan delGado has collected a selection of short films made by young Syrians film-makers, reflecting about their daily lives, their dreams and frustrations in a country devastated by war.
Film-makes such as Orwa Al Mokdad, Nanda Al Dolani, Azza Hamwi and Rawad Al-Zakout have created films about returning to Aleppo, about displaced children in Beirut, about a divided country and about trying to escape the world of words in search for its humanity.
London-based mulitmedia artist Juan delGado’s work has been internationally recognized at AECO’05 in Madrid, End of the World Biennal in Argentina, and the 2014 Mardin Biennal in Turkey, to name a few. Filming Syria is part of the project Qisetna: Talking Syria which Juan delGado has developed in collaboration with Syrian artists in Turkey and The British Council.
