We celebrated ten years of Clandestino Festival in the summer of 2012. Over the years we’ve presented artists such as Lee ”Scratch” Perry, Orchestra Baobab, Fatoumata Diawara, Mulatu Astatke, Hindi Zahra, Konono N° 1and many more. Our goal has always been to introduce our audience to exciting musical alternatives beyond the borders of genres as well as nations. The festival has grown little by little, change being a constant element in our activities.
We are eager to keep experimenting and try new concepts. In 2013 we will split up the festival into four Saturdays spread over the year instead of doing one three day festival. Clandestino Festival XI hence becomes Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The result will be at least as exciting and multifaceted program as previous years, only there are four days instead of four.
In other news: Clandestino Festival XI will be presented at Stora Teatern i Göteborg, a beautiful venue with a great deal of variation when it comes to the numerous stages, for both a seated and a sitting audience, a building that matches the rich variations of our program perfectly. The first dates to remember are 4 May and 8 June, which is when the Spring and Summer editions will take place. We will be back with more information about the Autumn and Winter editions shortly.
