CLANDESTINO BOTNIK, BOTTNA | 25 JULY
Had Elena Wolay been the Minister of Culture, today’s youth would listen to Pharoah Sanders instead of Yohio (a Swedish teen pop superstar) , and we would probably have got a new national anthem written specifically for high frequency noise and pan percussion. However, until then we rejoice in her DJ sets that change our ears and pry them out of place. The music she plays can be dangerous, ugly and insanely wonderful. Elena is a record mogul of the highest order and has probably rummaged through most album boxes south of Kiruna. Jazz is her God, punk is her Satan and electronica is something in between. On the side of the vinyl abuse, she runs the club, fanzine and record label Jazz Är Farligt.
